Germany's center-left Social Democratic Party elected Norbert Walter-Borjans and Saskia Esken as new co-leaders on Nov. 29, Deutsche Welle reported. Walter-Borjans already called for a renegotiation of the party's coalition agreement with the center-right Christian Democratic Union (CDU) and Christian Social Union (CSU), threatening to leave the government if the CDU and CSU don't agree. Chancellor Angela Merkel, meanwhile, said she was willing to cooperate with the SPD, although she ruled out a renegotiation of the agreement.
