French President Emmanuel Macron's government passed the so-called purchasing power bill — a series of measures aimed at supporting households amid soaring inflation — in its first attempt to pass key legislation in Parliament since losing its absolute majority in the National Assembly, Reuters reported July 22. The proposal was approved by the lower house of Parliament by 341-116 votes with the help of the center-right Republicans party and the far-right National Rally party, while the far-left NUPES coalition abstained.
