French Economy Minister Bruno Le Maire and German Economy Minister Peter Altmaier have published a joint manifesto calling for a reform of EU competition rules, Deutsche Welle reported Feb. 19. Both ministers voiced their support for mergers of European corporations to enhance their global competitiveness and called for significant investments in innovation, changes to the bloc's regulatory framework and protections for European strategic technologies.
