Chinese law analysts released a detailed text review of the Dec. 26 draft of an update to China's counter-espionage law, which would make local governments, news outlets and "internet information services" responsible for educating the public about espionage threats, NPC Observer reported Jan. 2. The updated law would also require logistical operations companies to provide technical support to state counter-espionage work, and state authorities would have access to corporate data and authority to inspect people needed for investigations.
