China's former justice minister Fu Zhenghua was given a suspended death sentence for charges of bribery, Bloomberg reported Sept. 22. The day before, local courts sentenced the former police chiefs of Shanghai, Chongqing and Shanxi to between 14 years of jail time and life in prison for bribery and disloyalty to President Xi Jinping, South China Morning Post reported Sept. 21.
