Beginning Nov. 6, Chinese authorities will halt all imports of a range of Australian agricultural and mineral exports, dramatically expanding an earlier coal ban, South China Morning News reported Nov. 3 citing unnamed industry sources. The new stoppage will include copper ore, copper concentrates, lobster, coal, timber, red wine, barley and sugar. Other sources indicated that Australian wool would also be included in this tranche, and that China plans to ban imports of Australian wheat at an as-yet-undetermined date as well.
