At least 18 people were killed, including all the Taliban attackers , in an assault on the Intercontinental Hotel in Kabul, Afghanistan, AP reported Jan. 21. The casualty toll is expected to rise. Ukraine announced that one of its citizens had been killed. Foreigners and Afghan officials both use the heavily guarded hotel. The Taliban claimed the attack, saying five men with suicide vests specifically targeted foreigners and government officials.
