What We're Tracking Trump threatens Iran. U.S. President Donald Trump said that Iran had "10-15" days to reach a deal as the U.S. military continued to bring large amounts of airpower to the region. Trump continued to suggest he might carry out a limited strike on Iran, but other media reports suggested the United States is preparing for a weekslong campaign to break Iran's political will and make it offer concessions to Washington. The issues remain the same: The U.S. wants Iran to give up nuclear enrichment, limit its missile range and capabilities, and end support for regional proxies — all of which Iran considers red lines and invitations to future U.S. aggression. The timing of an escalation remains unclear, but with two aircraft carriers in the region and a significant redeployment of U.S. Air Force assets, the credibility of the military threat cannot be held out indefinitely.
