A group of militants from the Islamic State Central African Province (ISCAP) on March 23 attacked and seized the town of Mocimboa de Praia, the district seat of the district of the same name, in the northern Mozambican province of Cabo Delgado. The militants seized a large cache of weapons from Mozambican troops who had fled the town. After securing the weapons, some food and other supplies, the militants reportedly gave townspeople food and other looted goods before departing before any government counterattack. The same scenario was replayed March 24 in the town of Quissanga, the seat of the district by the same name, some 110 kilometers south of Mocimboa de Praia.
