The Israel-Hamas war, particularly if it continues into 2024 or grows into a regional war, will likely reduce Ukraine's ability to resist Russia's invasion by increasing competition for funding and key weapons systems in the West and particularly the United States, which will in turn force Kyiv to adopt a more passive strategy to preserve its resources for the long run. In an Oct. 19 address aimed at rallying congressional and public support for his approach to the ongoing conflicts in Israel and Ukraine, U.S. President Joe Biden argued that curtailing support for either of the countries would be much more dangerous and costly for the United States in the long run.
