Russia will leverage the results of its recent election to validate its war aims and escalate pressure on Ukraine and Europe, though another major, politically risky military call-up is unlikely in the near term because the current recruitment is holding, and additional infantry would do little to break a drone-saturated front. On Sept. 20, Russia concluded three days of voting for the State Duma, regional governors and legislatures, as well as thousands of municipal offices across the country. Early Central Election Commission figures put the ruling United Russia party at 57.8% of the federal party-list vote, followed by the Communist Party (KPRF) at 13.8%, the Liberal Democratic Party (LDPR) at 9%, New People at 7.9%, and A Just Russia at 5%. No other party cleared the 5% threshold.
