In India, the Cockroach Janta Party youth group will likely face greater governmental resistance, organizational constraints and difficulties expanding its appeal and broader political influence as it attempts to further pressure authorities, threatening more violent unrest as well as localized disruptions to travel and business operations in the coming months. On Aug. 24, the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) youth group announced it would hold a Sept. 5 march in New Delhi, accusing India's government of failing to meet the group's demands, which include withdrawing criminal cases against protesters and compensating families of students who committed suicide surrounding recent exam scandals. The group had suspended its nationwide protests in late July after authorities reportedly agreed to the CJP's demands, including its core demand that then-Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan resign.
